Ripoff will freeze your account after you've paid your balance in full

In an effort to rebuild by credit, I accepted First Premier's offer for their Gold Card. Let me state right away that YES, I knew about the initial fees and YES, I agreed to keep the card and pay the fees because I felt it would be worth it in the long run.

The first time I payed them, I mailed a personal check. This was a big mistake because of their policy to hold out on applying your payment to your account for "up to 15 days". Y'know, to make sure I had sufficient funds. Even after the check had cleared my bank. Even after the funds had been posted to their bank. Y'now, "for the protection of my credit status".

Since then I've always paid either with Western Union Quick Collect (their preferred method, apparently. Do they get some kind of spiffs for this?) or through my online account (for which I had to pay to have the privilege of setting). Online payments demand a 7.00 fee every time I make one, and Western Union's method is about 12.00. Quick Collect is the ONLY method of payment that will be posted to your account right away.

I found this out when I made an online payment a few days ago, paying my balance in full. Funny thing is, even though they show receiving the payment and the money has been transferred from my bank account I STILL HAVE NO AVAILABLE CREDIT! After pleading with a "supervisor" this morning to release my account, I was told to have my bank fax a copy of the transaction to their Security Dept. And they would review it and see if my account could be "unfrozen" within 48 hrs. When I called back this afternoon to confirm that the Security Dept. Had received the fax I was told by a different "supervisor" that I had been given the wrong info, that they did not accept faxes (WHAT???) and that I would have to wait until Dec. 4th for my account to be "unfrozen". The reasons given were; a)"It is our policy and our right to withhold your money" and b) that my bank could decide to take the funds back. Strange not only to me but especially to the branch manager of my bank, who told me that after the funds for the transaction had left my account it would be IMPOSSIBLE for the bank to take them back, period!

In my world, (in which the sky is blue, probably much like it is in your world) when I PAY for goods or services I RECEIVE goods and services. First Premier has my money and is giving me NOTHING! How can this be legal?

Obviously my future with First Premier will be a short one at best. Bottom line, folks: stay the hell away from this company at all costs. They will nickel and dime (or, more precisely, $100) you to death. Be careful, because if you say their name 3 times, a "supervisor" might show up on you doorstep with a bill for making them appear!
