Once upon a time I was working on rebuilding my credit. I got myself an Aria Visa. This card was taken over by Providian and they turned it into a GetSmart Visa. Not a big deal. Both parties let me know, and it was well documented. I was having some issues on the job front and they stopped sending me bills. I had several conversations with Providian (GetSmart) on the phone, and had made payment arrangements, closed the account, etc.

Suddenly, I started getting bills from Emerge Mastercard. I never received a card, I never received anything saying that it was my GetSmart Card. I started receiving several phone calls every day to collect on this bill I had never heard of.

I shut off my phone. (yes money was tight, and it made more sense for me to use my cell phone.) Some how they got my cell phone number, and started calling it. Then they started calling and harassing my mother and my sister at their house.

So I got wise and started letting their calls go to voice mail. (Caller ID is a wonderful thing.) Thats when they started calling with CallerID blocked. I know have multiple entries on my credit reports for the same stupid card, that was closed. One of the entries is listed as Medical.

They have violated several statutes in the FDCPA, and if anyone is starting a class action suit, count me in. Bad business practices like this need to stop!
