Ripoff posted an extra principal payment wrong and refuses to refund the difference even after the loan was paid in full

We have had a loan with Homecomings Financial for 2 years, we have made several additional principal payments on this loan and never had a problem. Until September 8.

We mailed in a $10,000.00 principal payment and Homecomings posted it as a $1,000.00 payment - a difference of $9,000.00 - right?! Well, our bank account was drafted for the full $10,000.00 and Homecomings will not refund the $9,000.00. Our loan has been paid in full since Nov. 5 and all this started in September, we have contacted them going on a month now and to no avail!

Everytime we call we get a different "customer service rep" (if that is what they are supposed to be) and no direct answer is ever given to us - The bank has sent them a copy of the endorsed check - front and back - proof positive that they made the mistake. So instead of of receiving the $9,000.00 additional money at closing on the sale of our home, we are still waiting for some acknowledgement from them stating that yes, we will be getting our money back and when! BEWARE OF HOMECOMINGS FINANCIAL - THEY ARE A RIP OFF - AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT THERE. And forget about talking to anyone's supervisor - that won't happen you will just hand on hold for an hour until you finally give up and hang up yourself and call back the next day to start over again!

I know that they are a GMAC Company - We will be filing suit against them in a matter of days - and the claim will not only be for the money owed but our time and aggravation for the last month. It's scary when you can't get a straight answer from anyone - and there is not anyone else you can contact to complain. But, I'm sure they will contact us when they receive the letter from our attorney
