I received a telemarketing call on my cell phone and I bid:- (shame, shame, I know...

I do have bad credit and the offer did sound too good to be true but I bit and gave out my bank acct info to a telemarketer, first rule of protection, (Listen Up Kids) *never give out your info to a blind call, no exceptions! & *never "pay" for any kind of major credit card, no matter what. It doesnt work that way:-)

I was told that a electronic debit could be pre-scheduled for a more convenient date and that not only would I be guaranteed a $5000 credit card, I would also get a $500 short-term loan that would tie into the credit card and be direct-deposited in time to pay the $219 fee for their services.

They also directed me to a website: http://multimedia4u.org (but I had to wait 72 hrs for my passcode to be in the system) When you log into this online website, there is a page telling you that you will be charged $17? 00

Well the so-called short-term loan is a Payday advance. The so-called guaranteed credit card companies are the same ol' companies that we get spammed with 100 times a day in our free email services. Seriously! And the $5000 credit card another one to stay away from: Dominion Financial Services, out of New York, they charge $279, this is separate from the $219 charged by Consumer Financial Resources, who promised no other fees would be charged after the $219. Lies, lies, lies!

On another note, I have to give kudos to my bank. Their customer services people are friendly and respectful. They protected me and actually suggested that I close my acct and reopen a new one. I have been with "other commercial banks", who would have been salivating over the potential NSF charges that rack-up from such a blunder as this incident.

Nope, USBank remained my bank-in-shining-armour and held my hand through the whole process. They went right to work stopping these criminals. Before I had hung up the phone with USbank, a hard-hold was put on my acct. Until my pending charges cleared and then we will close the acct. But I called my bank the day after I received the fated solicitation. Lucky for us, my husband instictively knew it was fraud. So it's just me that is the "babe in the woods" on this issue. My husband is just naturally skeptical, lucky for me:-)
