Will not show up at all for small businesses

Called this company on a recommendation. We are a small business with equipment that has to be maintained in a cool atmosphere. We have had 3 90 degree days so far with no end to the heat in sight. The guy asked how we would be paying. I thought that was an odd question. We have been in business since 1984 and so far have never failed to pay a bill. The man assured me that a repairman would be here today to fix the air conditioner. This morning a lady called and said "sorry, no one can come." no explanation, no offer to come another time, no nothing like that. I just cannot believe that a company can operate like this and stay in business. Where is the pride in your work? Why is a person's word no good anymore? I would not ever use these people again for anything and would advise others to not use them either.
