Miscellaneous household repairs were to be done and the entire outside of the house was to be prepared and painted, along with other jobs such as, replace sidewalk, reseal flues, flashings, antennas and roof vents, and landscape, putty windows, clean gutters, remove old insulation.
We were unable to contact this man three months after all of the white trim on the house began to peal. It has since pealed throughout the remainder of the building.
We gave up trying to contact him until I was recently listening to public radio and heard a head of the BBB answering people's questions and in the course of the call-in portion I heard what sounded very similar to my problem, including the fact that we had just given up on finding this man. When listening to this gentleman I was made to realize that I had a responsibility to others to report this man. I may have lost out, paying over $7,000, but if I did not report him, he could go on cheating others if he were not reported.
I hope that I am not too late. I have learned a very hard lesson and will not allow this to happen to me again.
Like the caller I had gotten his name and he was recommended to us by a neighbor who had some work done. We took his word and never checked Mr. Disch out before hiring.
Thanks for providing the information that the young man did on the public radio station. I hope that a lot of people were listening that day.
