SHABBY SERVICE TO ACCRA, GHANA Air Travel, Delta Airlines

Delta Airlines Inc. Runs a direct flight from JFK to Accra. JFK is the hub so one can fly from anywhere in the United States to JFK and then fly to Accra. A relative traveling to Accra - Ghana, boarded a flight to JFK from another state. He had three pieces of check-in luggage. He paid $200 for the third piece since it was EXCESS BAGGAGE. The other two pieces were overweight by approximately 13 pounds and 17 pounds, for which He paid $150.00 for each of the 2 pieces (a total of $300.00); final total for his luggage was therefore $500.00. NO PROBLEM AT THIS POINT; ONE MUST PAY FOR ONE'S EXCELL LUGGAGE.

The luggage was checked-in direct to Accra, Ghana, which means the passenger will have no contact with his luggage until he arrives in Accra, Ghana. So even at JFK, you don't get to see your luggage which is fine, because Delta implies that your luggage is traveling with you. They make no prior disclosures to the contrary.

Well, my relative arrived in Accra as scheduled on a Delta Flight but only to find his luggage hadn't traveled with him. Strenuous investigations with multiple, stalling Delta Customer Reps both in Accra and the USA reveal that his luggage DID NOT EVEN LEAVE the original place of departure, let alone JFK on the date the passenger flew. Upon further interaction, a Delta Rep reveals that the passenger is entitled to a monetary claim on the company for the delayed baggage. Also, that Delta was making arrangements to dispatch the baggage by KLM. KLM? My relative has no claim on KLM. My passenger did not send his luggage with KLM; he checked-in his luggage with DELTA AIRLINES. Any agreements DELTA has with KLM have nothing to do with my passenger. Yet this is how Delta is operating its JFK-ACCRA route. Worse, the luggage didn't arrive as scheduled; they went on different KLM flights.

Meanwhile, after one very rude and insulting email by a Diana Prince of Delta, which denied any claim to my relative, Delta's communication line simply vanished. They did not respond to 3 additional emails I sent in response to their only email (I was politely trying to claim on the inconvenience of losing the luggage for 3 days). Delta simply vanished - no email, no phone line to baggage center; even Diana Prince ceased to EXIST. A File Number which Delta had claimed was critical in solving the problem and which was provided by Delta upon a passenger's report was NEVER provided.By the second day, there was even NO RECORD of the passenger's details in the Delta System. This is an example of the shabby service that delta provides on the jfk-accra route.
