Punta Pacifico (formerly Residence Club La Jolla)
TIMESHARE FRAUD

In March my wife and I attended a timeshare/vacation club presentation at the Punta Pacifico in Mazatlan. This property is located just down the road from the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. Our seller's name was Oscar I. The seller claimed to represent a company called Odyssey Premier Elite, OPE, which had space at our 98, 000 resorts worldwide. OPE has a website claiming to be in business since 1991. The sales brochure had the names of Hyatt, Westin, Hilton, Fairmont, Mayan Resorts, Punta Resorts, and Pueblo Bonito to name a few, as well as many airlines and cruise lines. The seller told us he could get us time at any resort we wanted. You could allegedly trade your purchased "vacation weeks" for time at a resort, airfare, or cruises

We purchased 300 vacation weeks for $US 16, 000. Included in the transaction was a marketing agreement with a company called Blue Point Holdings, BPH. This marketing company would buy our current premium timeshare for $75, 000 and up to 3 vacations weeks per year for the next 5 years for $1, 000 per week. The seller claimed Odyssey Premier Elite (Florida address) and Blue Point Holdings (Pennsylvannia address) were different companies. However, the payments to OPE for the vacation weeks and BPH for the marketing was split between to Mexican companies: Inversomex SA DE CV, Los Cabos and Beatiful Dream SA DE CV, Mazatlan.

When we returned home and did more research, we found many allegations of fraud. Also, the Mexican companies, Inversomex and Beatiful Dream, have nothing to do with vacation clubs according to their merchant description. We called the OPE Florida number to try and get information about the "club" but were told our membership would not be activated for 30 days. Also, the OPE representative could not even give basic cost information about their service.

We emailed both companies, Odyssey Premier Elite and Blue Point Holding, cancelling our agreement and requesting a refund. Both have not acknowledged receiving the emails.
