Fraud and ripoff or company in trouble? Buyer Beware and know your stuff

There must be dozens of various complaint sites that DSN aka Direct Shopping Network comes up on and most with the same complaints over and over. There are a few positive people posting in their favor "to a degree" and I am doing the same. We get them on channel 224 on Directv. I found them a few years ago. I'm a gem collector and also buy gems for designs I do and have made for myself and others.

My first couple of orders with them were positie in the sense I got exactly what I ordered and it was high quality either in gemstone or premade jewelry piece and the price was good compared to retail and most so called wholesale. The problem is that they take the order and charge your credit card and then the product takes forever to get to you. They tell you 7 - 14 days since its comes registered mail. I have never had anything come from them in less than a month, ever.

I ordered from a gem show next which had columbian emeralds. There was no problem with returns and refunds I was told (like most are) so I ordered 3 stones with intentions of keeping the nicest 1 or 2 to my taste. Which is what I did, I returned the other 2 in their packaging using Fedex 2nd day with signature and insurance. I checked and my items were rec'd and signed for. The old invoices said you were issued a credit upon return receipt. Took me 2 months of phone calls to finally get my credit. Not to mention they have the worst customer service hours and sometimes you can sit on hold and no one ever picks up.

Few weeks after the refund I called to order something for my daugther for graduation, they refused my order, they said I was blocked from future orders due to too many returns and complaints. I asked to speak to a manager, who told me the same thing. I informed them I made 1 return of the 2 stones that was it of 6 total items ordered to day over 10 months, that is NOT a lot. He said you are blocked from ordering and hung up on me. That was back in 2007.

2008 - 09 an item caught my eye so for the heck of it I dialed and used my business line vs. My personal on file. They asked if I was a new client they had no record of me and I said yes. Gave them my real name, address all the same info they already had under my home phone # but gave them the business line and one of my other emails. Order went through no problems.

I ordered at least a dozen items from them from november 08 until April... As usual they take forever to ship things. Of the first 6 I was very pleased with the items and the price just their long time shipping aggravates the heck out of me. Of the last 6 items I returned 3, one was no where what they said it was, the the other 2 same problem. These were all loose gems
and the sample was very nice for the money... The 3 I returned were bad color, heavily included and the diamond earrings which were suppose to be matched champagne with a S1 rating were 2 different colors and had to be I3 stones and that is being kind they were so bad.

Returned Fedex 2nd day with signature. I have been calling for weeks trying to get someone in customer serive during their bad hours to pick up to no
success. Finally today I put them on speed dial and called over and over and finally got someone. Soon as I gave him my customer # and said I am checking on returns you never credited me for. He said. Oh my. I have idea why they didn't do this a month ago (its 2 months since return 1 and 6 weeks
since return#2).. I will put this to the credit department as a rush for you.
Same excuse as I got all other times before.

And I am sure when I check in 5 days it will not be there on my CC so I will have to get on them again and get nasty and then I see the credit post
a few days later.

I don't know what to make of this company. How much of them is for real and how much is pure BS and they seem to be floating a LOT Of money. Most of the gems and jewelry I have ordered from them has been good quality and a good price, but the dogs have been dogs. And I know what I'm looking for and buying so I'm not uneducated in gems and jewelry like a lot of people! I would love to know exactly what these people are up to since one time they seem totally legitimate and the next the biggest con and ripoff on the planet. Anyone knows please tell the rest of us!

I do agree with almost every complaint I have come across. Horrid customer service if at all, takes forever to get refunds. I've sent in the form to the
local Attorney General and never heard a thing back. I've sent them faxes and emails with complaints and never had so much as an acknowlegement that they received it. There does seem to be a bait and switch with some items on occassion, like the diamond earrings I ordered for my daugther, the show host pair for "show and tell" were very lovely and clean to the eye even on TV or close up. Mine would ike a gravel pit. I always warn people if you want to know the real size of a gem stone or piece of jewelry do not go by the close up shots all these onair shows do... Ask to see the host wear it

Or show from a slight distance to get a feeling for the true size. Get a basic gemstone book at the book store and KNOW the properties of the gems and the ratings and what they mean. If they tell you "oh its a wonderful lovely bright diamond" and then rate it a K I2.. Its a dog!!! That is commercial grade not fine jewelry grade.

Educate yourself and buyer beware!
