First off I don't want to reveal my name or when the real Date the incident happened in fear of retaliation from the people i'm about to expose. I wasn't going to say anything but I still think of what happened every time I here the name city of Brighton so I'm just going to say it. I am a Mexican American by the way.
I called the city because sewer was coming up in my basement, they came with a big truck and did some work with it in the street. Well the water went down but I still had a bad smell and sewer water stains on my basement carpet and some other areas. I told them about the stains and eventually the supervisor of the utility came by with 2 men. I won't give out her name but I will describe them. The supervisor was a lady blonde hair and smoked a cigarette on my front lawn before entering my house. The men were, 1 caucasian with glasses, and 1 African American. They took pictures of my issues in the basement. My problem with them is when they thought I wasn't around, the Supervisor used the term f* Mexicans when talking about me getting some financial help for the stains and carpet, the caucasian with glasses started saying somemore bad stuff in agreement with the supervisor and was cussing every other word. The African American was just saying "ya ya" in agreement to the slander of the other two. I didn't say anything nor was i going to because its hard to find a job, but I told some of my friends about it and my kids (adults now) told me about this website, so here I am. I just don't think people like that should be allowed to work for a city and should be screened before hired.
This is all I have to say and hope the city does something about it. I didn't know who to send this to so I looked up the Mayors email on their website. Sorry but its a relief to get this out there.
