Morris Multimedia Management did not pay employees for overtime hours worked

The Statesboro Herald has frequently and over a long period of time failed to pay overtime hours worked by a large number of its employees.

Many hourly employees were required to work more than 40 hours per week, on a regular basis - many over 50 hours a week or more, but then the management modified time-cards to show that no overtime had been worked.

A typical example: an employee, due to the lack of staff, would be required to cover more than their normal assignment areas requiring 50 hours or more to complete all the required tasks. The management would then tell the employees that despite working 50 hours a week or more, that they would be paid for no more than 40 hours per week.

For many employees, this happened week after week after week. Sometimes the manager would refuse to accept a time card with more than 40 hours per week on is. Sometimes the manager would modify the time card, writing in 40 hours a week and scratching out the actual hours reported by the employee.

Mentioned before, this is not an isolated incident or relegated to only one employee. At least a dozen employees over three to four years have had their time cards altered in this way. It continues to happen in 2012.
