I am a true victim of unusual circumstances. I was terminated from Roehl Transport. Yes I was ripped off, and now I'm gonna have to fight this to get it off my DAC report. My dispatcher sent me to a truck stop to get my load scaled. I was not told of a DOT scalehouse just before the exit. Of course, it was open. I pulled over to the side of the road to give the dispatcher a call to see if I had properly slid the tandems forward enough. Needless to say the Minnesota Motor Carrier Division was right there waiting for me. They took my logbook and license. I was told to follow him, low and behold they were doing a massive ticket campaign.
I was given a warning for being pulled over the road for a non-emergency, but it was the next thing that took the cake. I was then questioned about the previous day (I was off 18.25 HRS). I showed the whole previous day in the sleeper berth. I was questioned why I hadn't showed any off duty time. Did I get out to go the bathroom. I explained that I have crohn's disease and had twice gone to the bathroom in the truck. I physically couldn't make it in time. The officer said that he had a sister-in-law with the same disease and that he understood what I was going through.
I then was asked the following question. On a scale of 1-10,1 being that I was so dead tired, I can't keep from falling asleep and 10 being able to rock the world. I said between 7 & 8 closer to 8. I had started my day 4 hours prior and a lot earlier than previous days. I then was put out of service for 10 hours. Here's the problem. I was called into Marshfield (Home Terminal of Roehl Transport), to explain why I was put out of service. I told them the exact truth, everything I told the offier.
I was given a written warning for being parked on the shoulder of the highway. They tried to get the warning off their record as they won the President's Award the year prior. They then just on 4-30 terminated my employment for lying to them about the reason I was put out of service. Roehl terminated me for lying, being parked on the side of the road, and for going the bathroom in the truck. I now have to fight to get this off my dac report. They are so concerned about a trophy over their drivers.
My former supervisors never did a thing when I was sent from Jackson, MI to Battle Creek, MI with all 4 pins out of the track of the trailer I was pulling. This company is clearly a joke, and if it wasn't for that blue box, yes the PrePass/EZPass, they wouldn't come close to ever getting the ATA's President Award or any safety awards for that matter. I hope others' will follow in the pursuit to expose what's really going on at Roehl Transport. They are nothing but a bunch of liars themselves, and could care less about their drivers. I was at fault for pulling over to the side of the road, but I was given 2 warnings-Non-emergency stop and driving while fatigued.
Anybody with a brain bigger than a walnut, can see being off for 18.25 hours the day prior, how can anyone be fatigued? I was told by that DOT officer that he wouldn't give me a ticket because he knows they have a great safety rating of 24, whatever that means. It just goes to show how these people can sway the system to benefit these companies. Drivers have no recourse for thier fraudulant actions. I hope someone contacts me over this, I will do anything to stop at will employers, they're nothing but scams.
