I made a rental agreement with tenant Ayanna Brown on 02-01 on Appoline Street in Detroit Michigan. She paid her rent until May I did not do a credit check on her because she used a sob story that her previous landlords went into forcloser without her knowledge and she did not find out about the forcloser it until she heard from the bank asking her to vacate the property by the end of that week in January and she was desperate to find somewhere to live, and I allowed her to move in to my property.
I now know that is a scam she used and uses to live rent free, these kind of people know the landlord tenant laws and uses the law against the landlords. She currently is still living on the property, she was given a notice to quit for nonpayment but she wants us to take her to court, court costs are expensive and the tenant still will not pay back rent they just uses the courts to buy more time to continue living free.
I need other landlords to be aware of this person and to always do your background checks when allowing a stranger to move into your property. This problem is still ongoing and she refuse to move.
