Helen Sturm, retired NYC judge, offers divorce mediation services. While initially appearing knowledgeable and responsive, she has made numerous errors in the draft stipulations, in emails, and in conversation. When asked for guidance, she has repeatedly directed us to the court system website (which is fine), but in conversation has contradicted the same information. She has used bully-tactics in some conversations and demonstrates repeated failures to comprehend and respond to questions pertaining to process which is fundamental to her services. However, she does bill for her hours resulting from her errors and failures to listen and comprehend which appears unethical and unprofessional. In retrospect, I would not work with Helen without a written contract that details what is billable as a protection for clients.
