Personal Training RipOff Removed Instructions from Exercise Machines

LA Fitness uses a contractor for its personal training service called Body of Change. I met with a trainer yesterday on 1/4/07 at the Garden Grove LA Fitness location. The trainer stated that he had no training or certification to work as a personal trainer, but had recent military experience that enabled him to be a fitness expert. This Body of Change trainer refused to train me to use the LA Fitness exercise machines and insisted that I must pay for an expensive package for this instruction. I was told that I would be required to pay a $150 processing fee, plus another $150 which would enable me to have eight sessions with the non qualified personal trainer. I the Body of Change manager what the qualification were to be a trainer at LA Fitness, he said none, that he will not hire college graduates who have kinesology degrees, because they don't know anything. LA Fitness has removed all of the instruction cards from the exercise machines at the Garden Grove location, so clients must ask the Body of Change staff to assist them with the use of the machines.

I did not fall for this Body of Change/LA Fitness ripoff, a processing fee which is the same rate as the so called professional services which is provided by an uneducated amateur, is just a rip off. I am bothered by the fact that Body of Change/LA Fitness hires personal trainers with no educational background in fitness and insists in charging the same rates as a professional college educated trainer would. It should be California state law that all gyms must leave the consumer instructions and warnings on all of the exercise equipment that paying customers use. I have never been to a gym before where all the warnings and instructions on exercise equipment has been deliberately removed to increase the revenue of the personal training program. My advice is to ask the other patrons of the club to help you with your work out, but never ask Body of Change or the LA Fitness staff for any assistance, they are only in the club to rip you off.
