I called Valley Services from the Yellow Pages phone book. They came to my home to give me an estimate for a repair on my air conditioner.
The tech never game me an estimate. He looked at the unit... Said he could fix it... And said he would be right back. My husband and I waited in the house while we thought he was in his truck writing up an estimate. He came back in about 5 minutes later and handed us a bill for $350.
My husband and I were dumbfounded. He never gave us an estimate. If he had... We would have known it was a $17 part that need to be replaced. He charged us $350 for a $17 part and 5 minutes of his time.
We called the company and acted like a new customer. Told them the problem with the unit and asked what it would cost to fix it. They quoted us $175. We then asked why their tech just charged us double that.
We then told them we never authorized the repair. We wanted an estimate. Valley Services told us they could remove the $17 part, but would have to charge us a removal fee.??? A removal fee for a repair we never authorized to begin with??? Bottom line is... We paid for the repair that was never authorized.
Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB still gives this company a satisfactory rating even though there is a valid complaint against them. Proof that the BBB works for the company that "pays" to be a member. They have no interest in helping the consumer.
Valley Services ripped us off. Buyer Beware!!!
