I was a long time repeat customers of Dave's, my check engine light goes on and I take the car in to be checked out. The owner calls me and tells me that the the 02 sensors are bad and I need a new catalytic converter. I had a new one put in three years ago and this did not sound right. I asked him what would cause my converter to burn out and he said the engine must be out of tune and the engine must be causing the converter to run hot. Well since he keeps crappy records he did not recall doing a full blown tune up on my engine 8 months prior. So I guess his tune-up job was garabage? The owner starts telling me that my converter is breaking apart in side and if I do not get this repair my engine will be harmed. The total repair cost Dave's quoted was $650.00 Anways I take my car to Midas, and the call me and tell me that the O2 sensors are bad. They tell me the converter is fine and the converter cover just needed a ten dollar clamp. The cover lost a clamp and was making a rattling sound. Midas fixed both 02 sensors and the clamp for $320. Anyways, I called to confront the owner about this and he told me that midas did not know what they were talking about. Well Dave's has one less customer for life.
