I own a l999 Dodge Ram Van. The engine light was staying on all of the time. I took my van to PEP Boys for a diagnostic to find out why the light was staying on. The diagnostic came back with "NO Failure" O.K. To drive. The Attendant/Clerk "Paige" told me, "all the vehicle needs is a tune up and regular maintenance" i.E. Oil change etc. I told her to go ahead! 8 hours later,
I called on my vehicle, to see if the work was complete.
"Paige" told me " the mechanic that was working on the van did all the work but the engine light was still comming on. The mechanic unhooked the exhaust system and drove the van around in the parking lot, and all the power had returned and the light went off. Then she told me, "I need to take it to another shop" that PEP BOYS couldn't fix it. She told me the Catalitic Converter had something wrong.
The reason I took this van in, was to find out what was wrong. PEP BOYs failed to find the problem correctly. I talked to the store managers i.E. Frank, Allen, and Meyers. None of these people would answer my question, None of these people care!
