I 1988 I damaged my back on the job and Maryland Casualty Company handled the compensation claim. Maryland casualty later became Zurich insurance company.
At the time my doctors said I needed an operation, but it would be in my best interest to live with the pain as many years as possible due to my age and the fact that the procedure had not been perfected yet.
The insurance company agreed to settle the claim with provisions to reopen the claim to do the operation at a later date and in the mean time allow four visit a year to the doctor. The doctor has monitored my back over the years on my own medical insurance and we have now determined it is time to do the operation.
Since I no longer have health insurance due to the loss of three jobs this year because of my back going out, I need Zurich to live up to their agreement that was filed with Arizona state workman's compensation department.
At this time Zurich refuses to reopen the claim even though they know it is the same injury that they agreed to fix. Zurich won't even pay for the one doctors visit I needed to reopen the claim, let alone the operation.
Zurich also knows that being unemployed I can't afford legal representation.
Somehow I knew this would happen after they ripped off my roommate when he was injured on the job last year.
I now want America to know that Zurich doesn't pay out on claims. BEWARE! Especially if you have insurance with Zurich!
