I have had my car financed with Consumer Mortgage Company for about 9 months and have never been late on my payments. I had a personal issue with my personal checking account and placed stop payments with my financial instiution on several checks that appeared to be lost or stolen.
In an error on the part of my financial instiution, yes they do some times make mistakes, a check to Consumer Mortgage was returned as "payment stopped" in error. After 2 weeks of me issuing a check and not knowing this was one of the checks that had been returned, Dolores from Consumer Mortgage called me with a major attitude asking me "why did you put a stop payment on your check". This was the first I had heard of the check being returned as "payment stopped". I calmly tried to explain to Dolores that I was not aware of the check I submitted to Consumer Mortgage being returned and that there must be some type of mistake. I offered to check with my financial instiution and return a call to her with an explanation. She did not want to hear what I had to say and continued to be extremely rude to me. Several times I tried to be calm and rational with her but she was not giving me a chance. I even told her at one point to please take the bass out of her voice which in turn set her off even more.
I then proceed to ask for her manager and was blind transferred to Tim. Once Tim answered the phone, the rude attitude continued. I explained the situation to him and was again handed a major attitude. I explained the attitude situation that I had received from Dolores but was only getting the same from Tim.
I tried to explain to him I would check with my financial institution and have the "payment stopped" check corrected.in a smart a$ attitude voice he said "it won't do no good because you work at that financial instiution and you probably know people in high places" which is not in anyway or fashion a professional thing to say - regardless of what type of business you are in.
I hung up after being insulted by such an a$ hole that is supposedly a manager. I called back and asked to speak to Tim's manager and was transferred to Barry Spencer who in turn took up for the attitude and rudeness I was given by both Dolores and Tim.
I cannot believe a financing company would operate in this manner. I tried to explain over and over again, that the stop payment was not the issue and that I would clarify that situation - it was the manner in which I was treated. Their rudeness and unprofessional mannerism was ridiculous.
I have contacted the BBB and am filing a complaint with them as well. That complaint will only increase the number of complaints on Consumer Mortgage with the BBB and increase their "F" scoring with the BBB.
Consumers watch out - this company is TERRIBLE!
