Capital One has taken my payment in the form of a mailed money order and not given me credit for the whole amount.
They claim to have physical records of past payments but this one has mysteriously vanished&although they had it long enough to credit my account with half the amount of the money order. So they must have received it.
Customer service was rude and accusatory suggesting that I was lying and that there was nothing that they could do. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told none were available.
Luckily, Western Union is going to send me legal proof but its going to cost me money out of my pocket, not to mention the 20 hoops i must now jump through just to get credit for the money i sent them.
Capital One's inability to prove my error and their refusal to admit theirs screams fraud to me. I have been stonewalled and told there was nothing they could do in a way that makes me believe that they:
A) Know what they are doing
B) Don't care if i they rip me off, or
c) Pull this all the time hoping the customer cant prove their side.
All I'm saying is— this company, at best, doesn't deserve our business, and at worst, is guilty of defrauding customers. They know that most people don't have the resources to fight a giant company over a few hundred dollars.
They should be punished on principal— abusing the little guy because we have little or no ability to fight back— this time I will not walk away quietly.
