It has taken me several months to list this complaint, as I wanted to give Eileen the opportunity to be fair. She has chosen not to, and is motivated by money.
In November I purchased a female blue point ragdoll from Eileen Pickett.in March of this year, she (Teia) began having seizures and I took her to the vet, where the blood work showed 1,400 titer for the FIP virus. My vet at that time thought it best that I make arrangements to put her down, as the virus was fatal, and she was already exhibiting symptoms (fever, loss of weight). I treated her holistically to try and make her time better.in June of this year, she had a seizure and died. After the diagnosis of the FIP virus, I contacted Eileen Pickett, and advised her. After my cat died, I contacted Eileen once again, and asked for a refund of my purchase price. She declined, and wanted to offer me a replacement cat, claiming that since I did not have an autopsy of the cat, it was impossible to prove that she was infected with the FIP virus. Teia was a year and a half old. I note other people who have listed a complaint, and I have actually corresponded by email with one person who also purchased a cat from Eileen that also died of the FIP virus. I want other people to be aware and warned not to purchase a cat from Villaroyal Ragdolls. The last conversation I had with Eileen was when she literally screamed in the phone to me. Obviously, her motive is money. I asked her to be fair. I spent over $2,000 on vet bills, medications and blood work. All I asked was that she refund my $750.00 purchase price so that I would be able to purchase another cat. She refused to refund my money, and have not heard from her since. She believed that my cat was not infected by the FIP virus. Healthy cats do not die at a year and a half old. I also gave Eileen permission to contact both of my vets, and I signed a consent for both vets to talk with her. She never contacted either vet. I was and still am devastated, not only for losing my cat at such a young age, but for Eileen's lack of caring. On a positive note, I have a newly adopted Ragamuffin kitten from a reputable breeder who gives a 5 year health warranty. The FIP virus does not always show up in a year, as in my case. I believe that Eileen Pickett is infecting the east coast ragdoll line, and is unwilling to be responsible for the pain and expense that she is causing her customers. Also, her so called cattery is filthy, and her cats are not socialized. It took me several weeks to acclimate my previous cat, as I believe that Eillen does not handle her kittens. My current cat is quite the opposite, as she comes from a home that socializes their kittens. I advise people to stay clear of Eileen Pickett's ragdoll cats. Reputable breeders do not treat customers like she has, and she should be banned from breeding.
