I recently found a kitten from lilnudist in Jacksonville owned by April Arguin Boggs and her mother Wendy Arguin. I put a deposit of $350 down on a $1,200 kitten. We were supposed to meet on Aug. 21 to pick him up. A Day or so before pick up, she changed it to 24th, and then changed it once again to the 30th. She finally confessed when pressed for an answer why, it was because all her kittens were riddled with ringworm. She said her mother brought a known cat into the cattery that had been treated previously, (apparently not good enough because all her cats in her cattery contracted ringworm.)
I asked her if my daughter could get it, was it contagious? She said no, not if you wash your hands. Well i hung up and did research, and yes it is very contagious, very hard to get rid of and can take up to 18 months to eradicate. I am a nurse i cannot risk getting it and infecting my patients nor do i want my family exposed. I politely asked for my deposit back stating we don’t feel comfortable with this medical situation. That is when April became very defensive and nasty, saying all catteries have it and it is not a big deal. She said she would ask her mother. She called back saying she was not giving our deposit back and we are no longer a suitable cat adopter because we don’t want to deal with a cat that has medical issues. We responded with the kitten has not been received, we were buying a 100% healthy kitten and you can’t guarantee it won’t come back after the pills are given. I asked how you can give me a health certificate if the cat is sick. She said it doesn't matter we are not letting you adopt it and offered no other future cat from a litter. This is not fair I thought I was buying from a reputable breeder who belongs to TICA, it is not my fault she brought a sick cat in her home and infected all her cats. She says it will be cured after pills and topical in five days and said most breeders would not have even told me about it and gave me the cat. I responded with wouldn't my vet have noticed it on the vet visit you are required to go to in 72 hours? She said we are terrible owners because i do not want to risk getting ringworm fungus in my carpets, new cat bedding and cat tree I just bought. It says you must throw out everything because the spores can last 18 months on those things. Did April throw out her bedding, cat swing tree and clean everything with bleach? No the video cam she has proved that. So she cannot guarantee me a healthy animal and just said too bad, a deposit is a deposit and is keeping my 350 dollars. (mind you this same cat had a $350 deposit before us confiscated by Lilnudist probably for the same reason) that’s $750 she stole in deposits and ended up selling the cat to someone else on the same date of our scheduled pick up at $1,200. It is not right, she says a deposit is a deposit, but i can see that if we just decided to back out for no reason, but this is not the case and something she caused. She brought an infected cat in her home and infected the cat i was supposed to get. I can’t risk that for myself or my immune compromised patients at the hospital not to mention april is a dental hygienist, can you imagine??
